The Yellow Creek Farmhouse was an opportunity for me to work with a homeowner’s specific wish list for his weekend getaway. Knowing this would only ever be a vacation home, we worked together to create a space that would maximize outdoor living and make the best possible use of indoor space, simply creating only what was truly needed by his family and friends. With that in mind, we eliminated extra bedroom storage, but added a hunting closet and ample kitchen space to hold the essentials that would be needed for weekend getaways to this beautiful and secluded property.
The first floor master bedroom opens onto the spacious covered front porch, and the open concept kitchen, dining, and living area runs the full depth of the home, providing views of the property from even the front of this unique space. The outdoor focus is evident in the large rear patio off of the family room, and the spacious screened porch beyond. The second floor boasts one traditional bedroom and two bunk rooms, allowing for multiple guests to join our host at his vacation property.
Working with this client was a fun departure from creating a full-time residence, and I thoroughly enjoyed using my creativity to focus on maximizing the potential of the gorgeous setting, while only including features that were priorities for this homeowner.
